The proposed design for Grand Central Terminal, submitted in 1903 by McKim, Mead and White, architects of New York’s Pennsylvania Station.

D.H. Burnham and Company, chief planners of the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago and architects of Washington D.C.’s Union Station, also submitted their proposal.

The contract was awarded to Reed & Stem (overall design) and Warren & Wetmore (architectural details).
